BOKS (Building Our Kids’ Success) (www.bokskids.org) is a free physical activity program designed to get kids active and establish a lifelong committee to health and fitness. The program includes lesson plans, training and support to get kids moving for up to 45 minutes per day and guidance for shorter movement breaks, games and activities Key findings from research conducted in schools in Nova Scotia shows that children’s stress and sleep disturbances decreased; peer relationships, cognitive function and life satisfaction increase; and children’s moods, behaviour and ability to resolve conflict were enhanced.
